SAEC Celebrates 260 Program Completion Students

A variety of home school colors peppered the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls. This was the first ceremony in two years that allowed all the SAEC students, families and friends to be together in one location to celebrate the successes of these individuals.

District Superintendent James Dexter complimented the students for their academic and technical excellence. He said, “there will never be another class just like this one. The pandemic made things hard and challenging… This class is going to have the most uncanny ability to overcome obstacles in their future because they’ve done it once and they came through it. Here they are sitting tonight, ready to move onto the next level. I have no doubt they will be successful moving forward. Congratulations to all of you."

Board members, faculty, staff and administration joined in the special day. In addition, guests from the family of the Ian Delaney Memorial Scholarship were in attendance.

The student speaker this year was Catherine Barclay from the New Visions Health Careers Exploration Program. She said of her classmates, “This is the future of our world.” She went on to talk about the students’ skills they gained from the programs and how each of those skills will impact life going forward. “With career and technical education, students are trained to take hold of new opportunities to do meaningful work that is essential to the well being of our communities.” She concluded her speech saying, “there is nothing to hold us back from stepping into the leadership positions of the next generation.”

The ceremony was live streamed for family and friends who were unable to attend the in-person event.
